10 Quick and Easy Link Building Tips

As all website owners know, the more sites linking to yours, the higher your search engine rankings will be. What everyone may not know is that there are many ways to get links.

Here are my favorites.

1. Submit your site to directories. There are well over 1,000. Some require a reciprocal link or payment, but most are free.

2. Submit your site to online classified ad pages. Most are either free or very inexpensive.

3. Request link exchanges with other webmasters. This takes persistence, but is worth it if you have a reasonable success rate.

4. Try podcasting. I know a few folks who have had great success with it.

5. Shoot a couple of brief videos and submit them to appropriate sites. If you do not have a camera, you can rent one.

6. Register at social bookmarking and other social sites.

7. Issue press releases. A quick search will yield lots of advice on how to do it, and services and software that can help. It is much easier than it sounds.

8. Start blogging and link from your blog to your website (and vice versa).

9. Write articles on subjects of interest to your potential visitors and submit them to article distribution sites. Include a a link to your website in the author’s box.

10. Make appropriate comments on blog sites and forums. Note the word “appropriate”.

If you are not already engaged in all of these activities, try at least a few new ones; the more the merrier. Soon you’ll be in position to judge which activities have the greatest payoff for the time you spend on them. At that point you are in great shape.
