Having an Internet website is similar to having a store in the real world. If you want to be successful with your business, you need to make sure that you have people coming to your website regularly. Of course, it is not enough for you to simply have people come by your website who are going to look at it, you want to pull in real buyers. That is where search engine optimization comes into play, a process that will allow you to pull free people into your website that have money to spend on what it is that you are offering.
You have no doubt heard about search engine optimization before but you might not understand the exact reasons why you would want to use it on your website. If you were to optimize your website properly, you would be able to pull in a lot of people and your business will do well. If you were to optimize your website improperly, however, you might end up hurting your rankings to the point where your business goes nowhere. That is why we always make sure that we trust a search engine optimization expert, Alex Miller with all of our projects.
There are two basic types of search engine optimization that you need to understand, external and internal optimization. Neither of these is really more important than the other but unless there is a proper balance that is done between the two, you might end up with results that are not quite what you are expecting. Here is a little bit about each type of optimization.
Internal optimization, often referred to as on page optimization is basically making sure that the keyword or keyword phrases that you are targeting are placed properly on your website. They need to be in certain tags on the webpage along with being in the body of the webpage itself. You would also want to make sure that it is used naturally throughout the page or you might suffer a penalty as a result.
The optimization that is coming into your website is known as off page optimization and it basically amounts to getting links. This is really an art form that many webmasters tend to overlook or overdo. If you do this part of the optimization process properly, you will be well rewarded as a result. Overdo it, and you could end up in what is known as the Google sandbox. Whenever you are in the sandbox, you will receive very little traffic from Google and it may take you months before you get out of the box entirely, if you ever do.
Having access to the proper tools is one of the most important parts of optimizing your webpage properly. Many webmasters don’t have access to these tools and that is another reason why they tend to hire this work out to the professionals. Alex has showed me some of the tools that he uses in his search engine optimization business and I can’t believe some of the data that it is able to accumulate.
Make sure that you are not trying to do all of your search engine optimization yourself. If you do, you will probably end up seeking out the help of a professional eventually, simply because you are unable to get anywhere on your own. The little bit of money that you have to spend on search engine optimization will pay for itself many times over once the traffic starts flowing.
