For A Person Who Works At Home
My blogging colleague, Alvin Phang wrote a post a few days ago about his latest income and successes with his business, Gathering Success. I could have just said, "with his blog, Gathering Success" because that’s what most people consider when they read Alvin’s log, or even see the theme I am using here at Talar profit Systems, designed and distributed by Alvin.
But like almost all the folks online notable for making money with a blog, Alvin only makes a very small portion of his money directly from the blog. If you take the time to see what the ‘big names’ do to make money … Darren Rowse, John Chow, Yaro Starak, Steve Pavlina, to name a few you will see the same story. All this folks make money, darn good money,as in connection with the blogs they are all famous for … but none of them makes their primary income from the blog itself. Just actually read what they do to make their money … they are all quite open and helpful in detailing their successes and even occasional failures, but none of them stuck up a blog, pasted in some AdSense code or some affiliate link and sat down and waited for their bank accounts to overflow.
Primarily they made their money from:
- Affiliate Marketing: essentially this is an expensive sounding description for being a freelance, commissioned salesman. You recommend, energize, "pre-sell" and then forward people to a site with a product or service and if a sale takes place, the seller pays you a commission as a reward for assisting with the sale.
- Direct Advertising Sales: This is the oldest model for online income and still, in many ways the best. Essentially you sell views of the ad "eyeballs" to an advertiser who wants people to see his ad copy. The cost varies a lot depending on how many "eyeballs" your site can provide, but even low-traffic blogs can make some money here. You can sell ads directly (just Contact me if you want one of the remaining ads here at Talar Profit Systems) or you can use a third-party service that just requires a simple WordPress plug-in on your blog and will then advertise, sell, display and bill and pay you for simple one-line advertising links. Just click on the text link Ads advertising banner on the right or on this direct link: Monetize Your Site.
- Produce and Sell Your Own Products: Quite frankly this is the area where I am weakest and the one I must focus
on. It is by far the most profitable and the most "scalable". Even a John Chow will only attract "x" number of visitors per month … it typically climbs, but it is not going to climb at a fast rare any longer. But produce and sell a profit and your profits will climb very fast … and as aside effect, your "brand" and popularity will increase, so all the other methods of making money will grow as well. Alvin’s free report is a great example to learn from … it doesn’t cost you anything to learn about how Alvin makes well over $11,000 USD in just one month. You better believe that’s more than I make and that I am now an avid reader. There’s nothing to lose … a true win-win situation.
To wind this up, I want to explain what I meant by the headline of this post, "For a person who works at home". here’s an excerpt from one of Alvin’s latest posts where he details his earnings the past few months. I was sort of struck by his comment about "being a person who works at home", almost as if he feels that working for himself would make him less of an earner, some sort of second-class citizen as opposed to those who have sold their ideas, their time and sometimes even their lives to a corporation for one of those *J*O*B* things that people seem to think represent security.
Pretty not bad if I must say for a person who works at home
That amount you see above is almost 5 times my normal pay (SG$1,600) when I was working
I am really glad I did not choose to continue working I love what I do now

Pretty "not bad" indeed, Alvin. I doff my cap to you. And to those who think "having a job" is a better thing than empowering yourself with the freedom to earn what you are worthy of, instead of what some executive ‘allows" you, here are two great articles to read and reflect upon, both written by a man who was once down and out and in prison and who now earns online at a rate that makes even Alvin’s considerable success look small:

If you look close, I am working to organize this place a little bit. In this excellent new theme I have started using, courtesy of Alvin Phang (you can get your own, here), there are three large "feature boxes" across the top. The very first one I am doing to dedicate to "Thinking" … getting your Attitude right … because, that, more than anything else, is what will make you or break you as a blogger or anyone else desiring success, online or off.
I’ve been blogging for several years now … this isn’t my only blog, only, in some ways my newest … and there is one great consistency I have noted across the whole inline spectrum.
There are those who succeed and there are those who do not. The single, overwhelming difference? Attitude.
There are those who start with more money, there are those who write better than others, there are those who blog from inside the US and those who do not, but all those difference do not count at all when stacked up against the Attitude of those who DO and those who WISH to do. If you take the time to read the articles I put in that Attitude feature section, you too can success.
A guy I have long admired online is Scot Standke, owner/founder of several great online services. Among other things Scot does is to put out a completely free service called "Niche a Day" which gives you all the information you need on high-paying keywords in a particular "niche" or pro\duct area. Recently Scot sent out a great book on thinking and attitude. It’s about 27 pages long and it is 27 pages that can change your life … if you let it.
There is no cost whatsoever and I have not even taken the time to put up an "opt In" and capture your email address or any of the other "Markety Things" I ought to do. I just want you to have the book, and I want you to read it and do something about your thinking.
Trust me, read it, and do what it says … you, each and every one of you can a success, if you want to.
