Free Keyword Research for Content and Website Search Optimization
Picking the right keyword or keyword phrase can help when search engine optimizing your content to get ranked higher on Google organic search rankings, which translates to more traffic and therefore more sales. Before creating any new website or piece of content, one of the most important things to consider is which of these keywords to optimize for.
Researching keywords using Google’s free keyword tool:
If you don’t have the money to shell out on keyword research tools, the free keyword tool offered by Google will work just fine, only the time it takes to do your research will be longer.
Let’s define some terms before moving forward. Keywords can be broken down from very broad terms, “Market Keywords,” to slightly more targeted smaller groups, “niche keywords,” all the way down to very targeted “micro niche keywords.”
When looking for keywords for search engine optimizing, you generally want to target the niches or micro niches, because the market keywords are just too competitive to rank for on Google. Lets take network marketing for example. It is much easier to rank for Network Marketing tips (101,000 sites listed) then it is for Network Marketing (11,800,000 sites listed).
To start your keyword research all you want to do is go to the Google keyword tool and type in your market keyword and get keyword ideas. From here I like to sort by approximate search volume. Any keywords over 10,000 are probably too competitive, and you dont want to go much lower then 1,000.
After narrowing these results, start doing google searches for these keywords. Make sure to put them in quotations. Your best chance of ranking is to find keywords with less than 50,000 competing sites listed (150,000 with more advanced SEO). These are the keywords you want to use when creating your content and building your sites. You want to include these keywords as much as possible without over doing it.
